About Us

My name is Tuija Elomaa. I live in Southern Finland. I'm breeding whippets in a small scale, only about one litter per year, under my Pipsqueak prefix. First and foremost my dogs are family pets and they all live in the house with me.

Kennel Pipsqueak has been Top winning whippet breeder for 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and Top winning breeder #2 for 2005 and 2006 in Finland.

My first own dog was a Borzoi bitch Aretta, she was born in 1975. At age of seven months she was attacked by an bullterrier and was seriously injured. Due that injury she was shown only couple of times. Veeruska was kind and sweet dog and my dear companion for over 12 years.

After I lost Veeruska in 1987 I bought my first whippet Cherie, Starglow's Secret Story. She was almost six months old when she came to live with me. She didn't do any big wins in the show ring, but gained two CC's. She was very keen, but not fast, racing dog and had some success at lure coursing. Cherie was mother to kennel Starglow's T-litter in 1989, sired by Ch Nevedith Xray.

Cherie was a big personality in a small package. She was just few months over 13 years old when she passed away in the summer 2000.

In 1989 joined us my two next whippets Tekla, Fin Ch & Racing Ch Babbler's Careen Woman, in the spring and in the next fall Wilma, Fin Ch & Racing Ch Metsänreunan Kreivitär.

They both had quite successful show, lure coursing and racing career. Especially Wilma was fast, her record from 480 m oval track is 32.81 s. In lure coursing Tekla won one and Wilma two CC's.

I mated Tekla twice, 1991 and 1993 to dog I adored, Ch Play a While at Peperone, but Tekla didn't ever have puppies. Wilma was mother to kennel Starglow's G-litter in 1992, sired by Ch Peperone Pilsner.

In 1990 my first male Fin Ch Babbler's Hustlerhallmark moved in. He was successful in the show ring and was Top winning male # 2 in Finland 1992. He had some success at race track as well as in a lure coursing field. Due the leg injury Hugo hasn't been shown after 1994. Hugo is father to Pipsqueak B-litter.

I imported Play a While at Peperone's daughter Siv, Fin Ch Play a While Fantasiregn, from Sweden in 1993. She has been very important brood bitch for kennel Pipsqueak. She is mother to Pipsqueak C, E and F-litters.

Siv's breeder Henrik Härling lent me his Scottish import Peperone Piaffe in 1995. She was mated to Ch Kipin Kapin Goodfellow and finally first Pipsqueak litter ( P-litter ) was born 4.5.1995.
